The fourth round of the 2024 Drift Kings International Series, hosted during the Nürburgring Drift Cup, delivered high-octane thrills on the legendary “Green Hell.” The competition was as fierce as expected, with 80 drivers from 19 nations battling it on the iconic track. Known for its racing legacy and challenging conditions, the Nürburgring was a decisive battleground for drivers vying for the championship. Every point was crucial, as this round marked a pivotal moment in pursuing the ultimate Drift Kings crown.
In contrast to the scorching heat of Round 3 in Mariapocs, the chilly weather in Germany threw an unexpected curveball. Many drivers weren’t accustomed to racing in such low temperatures, but that didn’t stop them from showcasing their skill. The competition unfolded on the Mullenbach section of the track, where drivers defied the cold, demonstrating an impressive level of adaptability and performance. Despite the conditions, the event maintained its high-energy atmosphere, keeping fans on the edge of their seats.
The Queen Series offered intense drama, with reigning champion Sandra Janusauskaite facing technical issues that hampered her qualification run. Romanian driver Alice Ene seized the pole position, but Sandra fought back in the finals, ultimately snatching the victory. Both drivers ended the day tied in points, setting up an electrifying showdown in the series finale in Greece.
Meanwhile, Swiss contender Nina Lingsch secured another podium finish, solidifying her third-place position in the championship standings. The race for the 2024 Drift Queen title is tighter than ever!
The Pro2 Series didn’t disappoint, with top title contenders Erik Lobmayer and Ricsi Miklos still locked in a tight battle. Lobmayer’s fourth-place finish and Miklos’ top-8 result keep the championship race wide open. Like their Queen Series counterparts, these two drivers will need to give everything they’ve got in the final round if they hope to claim the Pro2 crown. The adrenaline is palpable, and all eyes are on these competitors as they prepare to push their limits in the final race of the season.
The Pro Series has been nothing short of electrifying this season. Each round has been a fierce battleground, with drivers constantly facing off against local favourites, making it nearly impossible to predict who will take the win or the championship. The unpredictability was on full display as the series crowned its fourth different winner in four races, showcasing just how intense the competition has been. In the qualifying rounds, most championship frontrunners faltered—except for Andros Antoniou, who secured second place, just behind local hero Johnny Voogt. Meanwhile, a high-speed crash between Ela Koko and Saad Steffen heavily damaged Koko’s car, putting immense pressure on him as a title contender. Checchin, Levickas, and Haskasap cruised into the top 8, but the competition had already claimed casualties like MacPreiksas, Cselotei, and Porkolab.
In the Top 8, Christoforou was set to battle Levickas, but disaster struck when his gearbox failed, handing Levickas an easy victory and a spot in the Top 4 against Enver Haskasap. Once again, fate—or luck—was on Levickas’ side as Haskasap encountered steering issues, forcing him off the track and giving Levickas a clear path to the final.
Levickas found himself in the showdown against British local hero Archie Harmer, who had already won the Nürburgring Cup and was eager to do it again. The battle was lightning-fast, and Levickas seemed caught off guard by Harmer’s pace. With flawless lead and chase runs, Harmer clinched the Round 4 victory! As for the championship standings, Levickas gained a slight edge over the five drivers closely trailing him. But with 420 points still up for grabs in the final two rounds, nothing is certain yet!
Looking ahead to Round 5 at the iconic Serres circuit on October 4-6, the excitement only grows. Over 50 drivers are set to compete, and big questions hang in the air: Can Christoforou mount a comeback in the championship? Will Richard Miklos seize the crown in a dramatic finish? Can Alice Ene claim her second title, or will Sandra Janusauskaite take it away? Don’t miss the next thrilling chapter in the Drift Kings International Series!
