The last international competition on the European is approaching fast: we are less than a month away from the “Desafio Europeo” (European challenge) organised by Drift Spain. The Spanish drift championship created the idea of a season-closer international event in 2022 when they made the “Desafio Iberico” (Iberian challenge) happen in Madrid, Jarama Circuit. From last year, the organisers have refined the concept of the Iberian event and launched “Desafio Europeo”. This year, it will also serve as the final round of the Spanish National Championship, thus, the entire grid of the series is expected to compete on November 30th-1st December at Jarama Circuit.
Several acknowledged drifters have already confirmed their participation in the race: the fresh Drift Kings International Series champions in Pro and Queen categories, Gediminas Levickas and Sandra Janušauskaitė, are joining the contest from Lithuania. Two-time Portuguese national champion Diogo Correia is a returning driver to the European challenge as he’s competed in the previous year as well. Hyperdrive Netflix pilot Alexandre Claudin cannot be missing either from Madrid with his unique Chevrolet Corvette C6 LS compressor drift machine.
Moreover, the title of Drift Spain will also be decided on the first Sunday of December: the adrenaline-fueled battle of Raman Kandratsenka, Alex Gritti and Jason Banet is coming to an end. Raman, the current leader of the series, has already collected championship gold in 2024 as he’s taken the victory in the Portuguese National Drift Championship. 2023 Italian vice-champion Alex Gritti and current French champion Jason Banet are closely following Kandratsenka on the leaderboard enhancing the thrill of the Spanish titlefight right before the finals. More drivers are announced every week on Drift Spain’s social media sites.
The “Desafio Europeo” offers a tremendous season-closing event at the beginning of December as the 2024 drift season wraps up. The action will be broadcast live on the YouTube channel of Drift Spain, make sure to tune in to say goodbye to the 2024 drift year!
