Interesting facts about Drift Masters Sweden

The Drift Masters event in Sweden gave us not only a new championship leader. Our team gathered interesting facts about round 2 at the Drivecenter Arena.

Qualification

Lauri Heinonen was the top qualifier for the first time in his career – fin scored 91 points. His best result was two years ago in Riga – 95 points.

Conor Shanahan scored only 81 points in qualification – this is 5th worst result in his Drift Masters career.

His brother Jack scored only 80 points – this is 2nd worst result since Mondello Park in 2019.

The average qualification score in Sweden was 66.72 – 4.08 less than in the first round.

Tandems

Juha Rintanen claimed his first victory in the Drift Masters European Championship. It’s the second podium for a Finnish driver after France in 2019.

Duane McKeever got his second podium this season and 5th podium in Drift Masters overall. James Deane got 13, Piotr Wiecek – 11, Jack – 7, Conor – 6.

Naoki Nakamura claimed his first DMEC podium – he is the 25th man to get a trophy.

Jakub Przygonski was 4th in Sweden – he repeated his best achievement since Torun in 2018.

Kevin Pesur got into the Top 8 – this is his best result for the man from Tallinn.

Piotr Więcek lost to Alex Holovnia in the Top 32 battle – this is the worst-ever result for the Drift Masters champion.

For the second round in a row, Adam Zalewski has been knocked out in the Top 32, making it the worst start for a Polish man in his Drift Masters history. It’s only the second race of his career. There he got two Top 32 eliminations in a row.
