Formula Drift Round 3 Orlando did not lack of surprises: Hiroya Minowa became the youngest driver to win an FD round after coming out victorious from the final battle against Jhonattan Castro. Castro got his first podium in FD after long time of competing in the American series, while Aurimas Odi Bakchis could step up on the third step of the podium and Matt Field finished fourth.
With none of the previous championship contenders in the final 4, the excitement gets high before round 4. As James Deane was knocked out in the Top 16 by Rome Charpentier, Fredric Aaasbo reached the Top 8 and thus took over James Deane in the general rankings by 10 points. Hiroya, Castro and Odi entered the title fight with their excellent performance yesterday: they are all standing 30 points behind Aasbo.
The next round of Formula Drift will take place in Englishtown, New Jersey in June. Will any of the title contenders emerge glorious at that race, or will it hold even more surprises for us? Let’s find out on June 19-21!
