Lithuanians shine in Oman as Čirba gets a win in round 2

During round 1 of the Oman international drift championship, Latvian Nikolass Bertans and Edgars Krogers were on fire both getting to the Top 4 as NikNak won the event. Meanwhile in round 2 neighbours from the south strikes back!

Andrius Vasiliauskas (92,3) was 3rd best in qualifying as Benediktas Čirba (91) claimed 4th. N. Bertans (86,3) managed to qualify only 11th and E. Kriogers – 26th.

N. Alharbali was man to beat, Alan Hynes (89,7) claimed 8th place, Steve Baggsy (86,7) – 10th.

The first surprises started in the Top 32 as 4th place man A. Maksheed knocked out E. Krogeris.

In the Top 16, we have lost qualification leader N. Alharbali (lost to C. Van Oort), S. Baggsy A. (Maksheed) and A. Daham (N. Bertans).

During round 2 Lithuanian A. Vasiliauskas was on fire and beat NikNak in the Top 8 battle. Vasiliauskas met Maksheed in the semifinals but the Kuwaiti drifter was better this time and advanced to the final.

Benediktas Čirba way to the semifinal wasn’t easy – it took two OMT to beat A. Al Amri in the Top 8. In the Top 4, we saw close battles between B. Čirba and A. Hynes – this time Lithuanian was better and advance to the final.

A. Vasiliauskas has had an advance after the first run with A. Hynes but during the second one gearbox of E92 said enough and the last podium step was awarded to Irishman.

The final battle between Čirba and Maksheed. During the first run Kuwaiti crashed into Benediktas, and in the second run doesn’t complete the track. Čirba wins!
